Tank Painting October 2021

The museum has examples of two iconic tanks that would have been seen in the Falklands War (Note: I don’t think our tanks served in the Falklands):

The tanks have been outside for many years and needed cleaning and painting. The Scimitar was especially bad as it is parked under trees.

Usage: To pauses move your mouse into the carousel and to resumes move your mouse outside the carousel.

Next year, 2022, is the 40th anniversary of The Falklands War (1982) and we thought that it would be good to get the tanks cleaned and painted for the anniversary.

I managed to organise a work group from the company I work for and purchased the special paint needed to paint the Scimitar.

Then the first Covid look down was announced and we had to cancel the work.

However, in October 2021, we started work on the Scimitar. It took three days to complete.

Usage: To pauses move your mouse into the carousel and to resumes move your mouse outside the carousel.

I would like to thank the volunteers from Sage, The Friends and The Farnborough & District Radio society.

The Scorpion and the rest of the vehicles in the museum also need painting. If you would like to help, please contact the museum. Contact details can be found on the Museum's Web Site.
